Selma spends her vacation with her grandparents on the island. Here he doesn't have to worry about the fact that he doesn't have a friend. She tries to pretend she doesn't hear the bird inside her and pecks her in the heart, repeating over and over again that Selma will never be friends with anyone. Everything changes when Selma meets Shoelace, a cheeky and self-confident little girl who is also on vacation on the island. The bird pecking Selma in the heart slowly begins to lose arguments.

The book received the August Prize in 2013, the most important Swedish award for children's books.
