The Gulf of Aboukir is a spacious bay in the Mediterranean Sea in Egypt, located between Abu Qir and the mouth of the Rosetta Nile. Aristide, brother of Louis-Marie, was a French naval officer and hero of the Battle of Aboukir. Inspired by a lush, intense natural landscape, this fragrance has a spicy top note of eucalyptus with a floral amber heart of jasmine, lavender, clove and a rich amber accord. The base notes of the fragrance include a strong woody accord of patchouli, cedarwood and vetiver with a sweet accord of tonka bean.

Maison Louis Marie is the result of a long, rich family history in fragrance, starting with Louis Marie Aubert du Petit Thouars: a pioneer of French botanical history who was exiled to Madagascar, La Réunion and the islands of Mauritius during the French Revolution. There he discovered a wide range of plant specimens, collected over 2,000, and was then elected a member of the prestigious Académie des Sciences - the engravings and sketches visible on the fragrance packaging come from his journals.
