Fairy tales for young and old

People have been telling each other fairy tales for a long, long time. And all over the world! Often it is the fairy tales that were and are the first stories heard in childhood. Much has found its way into the canon of children's literature. Is it only for kids? The oldest fairy tales were not intended for them at all. It was the adults who told them to each other.
