When your child experiences violence, instead of giving “good” advice or confronting them at school, make sure they can solve problems on their own, and if necessary, with the support of adults.

What do children really need to build their resilience, self-esteem, and agency? The authors show how to cope with peer violence and present 10 therapeutic stories about bullying, exclusion, harassment, cyberbullying, gaslighting, and more.

According to the FDDS study, 57% of Polish children have experienced peer violence, and 89% have witnessed such events – at school, in the yard and in the virtual world. That is why mental resilience is one of the most important competences of the future.

The authors point out that not every solution that immediately comes to mind (e.g. confrontation with the school principal) will actually be helpful. What the child really needs is a strengthening of the sense of belonging to the family, regaining agency, and allowing them to truly feel: "I am myself. And that's okay!"
